ECP publishes list of delimited constituencies for next general elections

Photo: Geo News/File The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is all geared up to hold the next general elections at any time as the electoral body has completed the delimitation of constituencies. The delimitation of constituencies for all national and provincial seats has been accomplished. The ECP has also removed all objections regarding the delimitation of constituencies. It had assured the Supreme Court it will complete the delimitation of constituencies by August 4. Final list of newly delimited constituencies The Election Commission has published the final list of constituencies . The final list includes 266 constituencies of the National Assembly and 593 of the provincial assemblies for the general elections. A copy of the final delimitation of the electoral constituencies/districts can be obtained from the Election Commission Secretariat Islamabad as per rules. PTI maintains all accounts 'legal' after ECP says party received prohibited funds

PTI leaders addressing a press conference in Islamabad. — YouTube ISLAMABAD: The PTI on Tuesday rejected the ruling of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that the party receiving prohibited funding. The ECP, in a unanimous verdict, said the commission found that 34 foreign donations were taken in fundraising. The donations were taken from America, Australia, Canada, and the UAE. In addition, PTI took funds from an American businessman, the ECP said. Unknown accounts have also come to light, said the commission in its verdict, adding that hiding accounts are a "violation" of Article 17 of the Constitution. The ECP also found that PTI Chairman Imran Khan submitted a false Nomination Form I and that the affidavit provided regarding party accounts was false. The ECP has issued a show-cause notice to PTI. Photo: Geo News/screengrab      ISLAMABAD: After a damning verdict by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), PTI leader Farrukh Habib said that foreign funding was not proved against the party. The verdict disappointed those who were pushing the narrative of foreign funding against the PTI, said Farrukh Habib. He maintained that they were of the view that it was a case of prohibited funding but not of foreign funding. Raising questions over the ECP, the PTI leader said that the IHC had ordered to probe the accounts of all the political parties without any discrimination. He said that the scrutiny committee tasked to probe the accounts of PTI completed its work on time but the committees established to check the accounts of PPP and PML were yet to submit their report. ECP likely to announce verdict this week, say sources

The UK paper revealed that the PTI received funding from Wootton Cricket Club of Abraaj founder Arif Naqvi which was generated through a charity match and an Arab personality. The FT report provided ammunition to the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and they demanded an early announcement of the verdict which was reserved on June 21. ECP officials told Daly Jang  , on the condition of anonymity, that the Election Commission will announce the foreign funding verdict during the first week of August.
