Shahbaz Gill shifted to PIMS, undergoes medical tests

Adiala jail authorities handed over Gill — who has been behind the bars since over a week now in a sedition case — to the Islamabad Police late on Tuesday night following a heated standoff over his custody. The handover was ordered by a district and sessions court earlier in the day. At the PIMS's cardiac centre, doctors conducted his initial medical checkup. Different tests, including blood tests and ECG were also conducted. The sources said that Gill's oxygen saturation level was recorded at 97. An Islamabad district and sessions court on Wednesday took up the review plea seeking the judicial remand of PTI senior leader Shahbaz Gill in a sedition case filed against him, as per the orders of the Islamabad High Court (IHC). The IHC had directed the sessions court judge to rehear the case over the government's plea challenging the dismissal of Gill's physical remand by the duty magistrate. Gill's lawyers Salman Safdar and Faisal Chaudhry appeared in court, while judge Zeba Chaudhry is hearing the plea. Islamabad Advocate-General Jahangir Jadoon, on August 13, had moved the IHC seeking its order to declare the decision taken by the district and sessions court null and void while extending the physical remand of Shahbaz Gill, a close aide of PTI Chairperson Imran Khan.
