Empty plot adjacent to building also sealed. A building in Karachi was sealed by the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) after it being vacated due to a three-inch tilt to the right. Residents of the building claimed that their building must have tilted to one side as a result of the adjacent vacant plot being severely waterlogged. The three-story building on Khayaban-e-Shamsheer in DHA Phase V reportedly leaned to one side before being sealed, according to DHA spokesman Colonel Kashif. Renowned educationist, politician Hunaid Lakhani passes away in Karachi

Chancellor of Iqra University Hunaid Lakhani passes away — Iqra University   Educationist and politician Hunaid Lakhani passed away on Thursday from dengue fever at a hospital in Karachi, according to a report by Geo News. He was the founder and chancellor of Iqra University.  Lakhani was being treated for dengue virus at a hospital in Karachi but was unable to recover, sources in his family said. Following news of Lakhani's untimely death, a number of academics and politicians, including Pakistan's president expressed condolences. Lakhani remained affiliated with the PTI and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P). He and PTI MNA Alamgir Khan also founded the FIXIT organisation. When will it rain again in Karachi?

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department's latest weather forecast, Karachi is again expected to receive light drizzle and weather will remain partly cloudy over the next 24 hours. A minimum temperature of 27°C was recorded in Karachi Monday, while the maximum temperature is expected to be between 31°C and 33°C. The humidity ratio was recorded at 81%, while winds from the southwest were blowing at 16km/h, according to the PMD. Earlier, the PMD had warned that heavy rains may generate urban flooding in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Malakand, Buner, Mohmand, Kurram and Khyber on August 21. "Flash flooding is expected in Qilla Saifullah, Loralai, Barkhan, Kohlu, Musa Khel, Sherani, Sibbi, Bolan, hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Dir, Karak and Lakki Marwat today,"

Four killed as rains lash Karachi

Around 40 people, including a couple riding a motorcycle, were trapped on the Korangi Causeway which was heavily flooded after the downpour on Friday, and swept away by the rainwater, The News reported. Upon receiving the information, rescuers from the Edhi Foundation started an operation to save the stranded people. Depression 450km away from Karachi

In its Alert-III, the Met Office said that the system is likely to move further westwards till today evening and then recurve northeastwards and weaken gradually. Maximum sustained surface winds are 45km per hour gusting to 55km per hour around the system centre. “Currently none of Pakistan's coastal area is under any threat from this weather system,” the Met Office alert said, adding that PMD Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre, Karachi is closely monitoring the system and updates will be issued accordingly. He maintained that the low-pressure system penetrating in central and southern parts of the country has intensified into a depression and is likely to generate torrential rains in the port city during the forecast period. Jawad Memon noted that the rain-bearing system is heading towards Sindh. “Another low-pressure system is prevailing over Gujrat and a link is being established between the two systems,” he added. KARACHI: Four people, including a father-daughter duo, were electrocuted, while four others drowned due to urban flooding in Karachi on Monday as heavy rains continue to pound the city. One of the tragic incidents took place at a residential apartments' premises on Al-Falah Road in Lyari's Bihar Colony area when a man and his daughter were electrocuted. The rescue teams rushed to the site of the incident and shifted the victims to Civil Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The deceased were identified as Rehman Usman, 35, and 10-year-old Hifza. Quoting initial reports, police said the incident occurred when Hifza suffered shocks from an electric board in the flat and h
