Did Sheikh Rasheed really go into hiding?

However, the photo was taken in June 2020 when Ahmed was treated for COVID-19. He has appeared in public in August 2022 after claims about him hiding circulated. "The one who sets parliament on fire and gives open threats to institutions, Sheikh Rasheed has made the excuse of being sick and is hiding in a hospital," reads a tweet posted on August 11. The tweet, shared by an account with more than 110,000 followers, shows a photo of Ahmed in a hospital bed. Ahmed is a vocal critic of the ruling coalition that took power after ex-prime minister Imran Khan was booted from office in April. Former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed Awami Muslim League chief and former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has once again warned the government that attempts to arrest Imran Khan or break the PTI would trigger bloody politics in the country. Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Sheikh Rasheed said that the security of the country is more important than politics and power, adding that the instability in Afghanistan will also affect peace in Pakistan. “Extortion and suicide attacks have started in the country.” The statement from the former federal minister came after the government filed references against the PTI chairman in prohibited funding and Toshakhana cases. In a statement on Twitter, the chief of Awami Muslim League (AML) said that all but JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman is against the proposal. “Those who are in quarantine (an indirect reference to PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari who tested positive for COVID-19 and is isolating)  have also agreed to the snap polls,” he said, adding that the nation will "soon hear of the date of elections in October, a new Election Commission and the formation of an interim government". “A dollar worth Rs250  and an increase by Rs10 in the price of LPG will shut down markets,” he added.
