Global Courant 2023-04-17 02:55:52 Bay Area rapper and longtime Warriors fan E-40 released a statement this weekend denouncing "racial bias" after security removed him Saturday night from an NBA playoff game between the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors. Video footage of the event shows E-40 communicating at court with security guards who then escort him out of Sacramento's Golden 1 Center. After the rapper spoke out, the Kings told The Times that the team "takes these allegations seriously" and is "looking into the facts and circumstances surrounding the situation, as we do when such an allegation is made." In a statement obtained Sunday by the Associated Press, E-40 said other attendees harassed him during the game. The "Choices" performer, whose real name is Earl Stevens, added that he dealt with a heckler "in an assertive but polite manner" before security kicked him out of the arena. Lahore, Pakistan – Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan has won a major political victory after the country’s Supreme Court ordered the government to hold snap polls in the politically crucial Punjab province on May 14. Khan, who was removed from power in April last year after losing a confidence vote in parliament, says he is confident of victory for his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party in forthcoming provincial as well as national elections, due by October this year. In an interview with Al Jazeera at his Zaman Park home in Punjab’s capital, Lahore, Khan discusses his plans in an election year as he also looks back at the tumultuous 12 months gone by. Al Jazeera: In January, your party dissolved the provincial assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which it controlled. What is your plan of action in case the government continues to delay elections in the provinces? Imran Khan: When I dissolved my two assemblies, we got the top lawyers. We looked at the constitution.

Islamabad has so far opposed New Delhi's proposal to renegotiate a six-decade-old water-sharing deal as the effects of climate change intensify and water security becomes a rising issue in both Pakistan and India. According to Pakistani policymakers, New Delhi is menacing Pakistan with unilateral treaty amendments if Islamabad doesn't give in to its aspirations and plans on the Indus River and its tributaries. The Indian strategy is extremely hazardous and may result in conflict with long-term consequences for both India and Pakistan. Indus Water Treaty is a unique water distribution agreement that has prevented major wars between two states but India and Pakistan are now facing several challenges and complexities. Quick word association: I say “club” and you say … what? “Comedy?” “Fitness?” “Strip?” Ten and 12 decades ago, your answer would have been very different: clubs like the Rosecrans or Friday Morning Club, or — if you were flush with money, white, male and invited — California or Jonathan. A couple of hundred private clubs flourished in Los Angeles in the 1920s, more than a dozen of them along the beachfront. Some of them date to the 19th century, and a few of those are still with us. The new ones tend to be “lifestyle” clubs, second homes for fitness, food, recreation, serene workspaces and the company of like-minded and prosperous people. Come to think of it, if you substitute hot yoga and Kingsman suits with smoking jackets and the noble game of billiards, present-day “lifestyle” clubs are not too unlike the London men’s club culture of gaslight and Mycroft Holmes —Sherlock’s older, smarter brother, unfailingly found at the Diogenes Club. The L.A. of 1900, 1910, 1920 didn’t go in for
