On Saturday, Novak Djokovic reiterated his steadfast opposition to receiving a Covid-19 immunization and condemned himself to missing the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year. Due to his unwavering yet divisive attitude, Djokovic was expelled from Melbourne in January, forcing him to give up his pursuit of a tenth Australian Open championship.
The 35-year-old Djokovic said on Saturday that Wimbledon, which begins Monday, will be his final Grand Slam of 2022 because there is no indication that the US government will soften its requirement that all visitors be immunized. He was unambiguous when asked if he had entirely given up on being vaccinated.
Yes, he replied.
In 2011, 2015, and 2018, Djokovic won the US Open.
He has two fewer Grand Slam titles than his former adversary Rafael Nadal, who has 21.

He missed out on the chance to complete a calendar Grand Slam last year after losing to Daniil Medvedev in the New York final.
His inability to visit America—he previously skipped the Indian Wells and Miami Masters—will be a major motivator as he pursues a seventh Wimbledon victory.
“Under these circumstances, I am prohibited from entering the United States as of today. This gives me even more incentive to succeed. I’m hoping to have a great tournament,” Djokovic stated.
I’d adore to see the United States. But as of right now, it’s impossible. I’m not able to do anything much anymore.
“The US government will ultimately decide whether or not to let unvaccinated people to enter the country.”

The possibility of winning a fourth Wimbledon championship in a row and joining an elite group is another thing that feeds Djokovic’s passion.
Only Bjorn Borg, Pete Sampras, and Roger Federer have been able to end such a dominant streak at the England Club during the Open era.
I’ve dreamed of winning Wimbledon and rising to No. 1 since I was a young lad,” he continued.
The first tennis match I ever watched on television was Pete Sampras winning his first Wimbledon.

The biggest hike was seen on Wednesday (Aug 3), when the rupee appreciated by a record single-day gain of Rs9.59 or 4.19pc. This major gain by the rupee has brought exchange rate stability as currency dealers feel that the fluctuations would not be as volatile as were witnessed in July when the greenback gained over 13pc in a single month against the local currency.
