SWAT: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Haji Fazl Mulla is leading the by-polls for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly seat PK-7 Swat. According to unofficial results from 113 polling stations out of 124, Mulla is leading the count with 15,401 votes. He is closely followed by Awami National Party (ANP) candidate Hussain Ahmed who has secured 13,302 votes. ANP’s Husain Ahmed is supported by PPP, PML-N, QWP, JUI-F and others. The PK-7 Swat seat fell vacant after ANP MPA Waqar Ahmad Khan passed away on April 30 this year. As per the Constitution, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is required to hold a by-election on any lawmaker’s seat within 60 days from it having fallen vacant. The constituency has 183,308 voters in total out of which 100,288 are male and 81,220 are female. The ECP had set up a total of 124 polling stations in the constituency with 308 booths. Of them, 41 polling stations were declared sensitive and 12 sensitive.
PTI’s Haji Fazal Mulla, ANP’s Hussain Ahmad Khan, Daulat Khan of the Tehreek-e-Inqilab, and independent candidate Mohammad Ali Shah were the leading candidates. It may be mentioned that PK-7 is the home constituency of the PTI leader and former communications minister Murad Saeed. The ANP has complained about the active campaign by provincial ministers for the PTI candidate.

67 animals died from lumpy skin disease in 24-hours

PESHAWAR: Almost 67 animals have died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in 24 hours from lumpy skin disease, a spokesperson of the Department of Livestock told BOL News. A spokesperson for the province’s Livestock Department stated, “According to the information, 631 animals have perished in KP, and the mortality rate is fast growing in the region.” The spokesperson further said that 112 animals in the Kuram agency died from the fatal lumpy skin virus, while 85 animals died in Peshawar and 80 animals perished in the Bannu division of the province. As per the details, during the 24 hours in KP, 775 animals were affected by the lumpy skin disease. The total number of affected animals by the disease has increased up to 13, 856 in KP.
